Riverside Arts Market Returns with Yoga Fest

Fall weather is settling in and it’s time to grab your yoga mats and put on those yoga pants! Riverside Arts Market returns, post Hurricane Matthew, with a full day of yoga classes on Saturday October 15 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Yoga Fest features 18 yoga classes including classes such as Acro Yoga, Laughter Yoga and Vinyasa. Classes are taught by yogis from yoga studios throughout Jacksonville and featured guests include Chris Byford from Nashville, Tennessee and Dan Nevins. Chris Byford is a representative of Veterans Alternative, a nonprofit serving veterans who have experienced PTSD through resilience and strength-based programs utilizing alternative therapies such as yoga. Dan Nevins is a military veteran who started his career as a paratrooper stationed in Germany and was eventually deployed in 2004 to Iraq as a member of the Task Force. Nine months later an IED detonated beneath his vehicle and as a result of his injuries he suffered a traumatic brain injury and his left leg was amputated below the knee. He’s had over 30 surgeries to date.

Yoga Fest is produced in partnership with Veterans Alternative, Indie Bollman, Angela Cimino and Marcy Knight. All levels of yogis are welcome and donations are encouraged for Veterans Alternative.
