Sweating for the Next Generation – Marathon High

Imagine a day where hundreds of local people come together throughout Jacksonville to sweat for our next generation. National Running Day is Wednesday June 3, and Jacksonville’s finest running stores, fitness studios and running clubs are coming together to raise funds for Marathon High — a nonprofit after-school program that trains at-risk high school students to run the Donna Half-Marathon as a means to develop self-esteem, confidence, healthy lifestyles and positive choices.

In exchange for a $10 donation from runners/walkers, partners are offering special group runs/ walks or classes with fun perks and giveaways.

Get Sweaty and Give Back. Partner events on June 3 include:

Mellow Mushroom Avondale, 6:00pm — 5K fun run, free beer afterward for each runner. Treats from Sweet Pete’s too.

Enjoy Fitness, 6:00pm — 5K fun run at P.F. Chang’s at St. Johns Town Center. Free appetizer for all runners.

1st Place Sports, Baymeadows, 6:30pm — Hosted by JTC Running, a 5k fun run with free hamburgers, hotdogs and beer afterward. JTC Running will match all contributions.

PRS Running Club, 6:00pm — Atlantic Coast High School, track/interval workout. Free post-run drinks and snacks.

Jacksonville Running Company, 6:30pm — prediction run at Native Sun on Baymeadows. Raffles, prizes, $1 Sierra Nevadas.

Athleta at St. Johns Town Center, 6:30pm — 5K fun run. After-party in the store with raffles and free massages.

Big Fish Yoga, (Thursday, June 4) 6:15pm — 5K group run. Free deep stretch yoga class afterward.
